Curling has been cancelled this evening.  As that was the last game of the round robin all teams will get 1 point and the Drawmaster will break any ties going into the Playoffs.  The playoff schedule will be posted by Thursday, January 19, 2012

Have you ever wanted to be an Official/Umpire at a Provincial, National or World Curling Event?

If you are interested in becoming a Level 1 or Level 2 Curling Umpire/Official please consider taking the CCA Level 1 training course scheduled for December 10th at Victoria Curling Club, 1952 Quadra Street, Victoria, BC.  Duties of a Level 1 Umpire/Official include, on ice charting of stones and score boards, game timing, hog line judge, etc.  If you are a certified Level 1 CCA Umpire/Official and wish to become a Level 2, there is a CCA Level 2 training course scheduled for December 11th at Victoria Curling Club, 1952 Quadra Street, Victoria, BC.  Duties of a Level 2 Umpire/Official include, Timing Supervisor, on ice supervising, measuring, rule enforcement, pre-game practices, Chief Umpire for local/regional events leading to a Provincial Championship, etc.

Game Umpires Needed for 2012 Tim Horton’s Junior Provincial Championships

Curl BC is pleased to announce the delivery of a Competition Coach Workshop* at the Esquimalt Curling Club.

The following is a link to register for the 2 day workshop.  Esquimalt - Competition Coach Workshop December 2011.  Please inform Lei Davies if you are registering.

We require a minimum of 6 registrants in order for the workshop to proceed.

Registrants can be as young as 16 years old to take part in the workshop. This is a great opportunity to invest in your curling programs and facilities including future curlers and coaches within your communities and regions.

The deadline to register is, November 21, 2011.

The cost for the workshop  is $184.80 ($165.00 + taxes) – includes learning resources to be received at the workshop. Workshops typically run from approximately 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., albeit specifics differ from workshop to workshop. The learning facilitator will communicate with registrants after registration closes to share details about this workshop.

Please note: to complete the certification process an evaluation and completion of the online Making Ethical Decisions module is required following the workshop. Evaluation costs $75.00 plus taxes and involves the completion of various paperwork, practices plans and an on-ice evaluation with a team of four. The learning facilitator for your Competition Coach Workshop will explain the process.

*Competition Coach is required to coach a team through playdowns, provincials, and nationals as well as BC Games.
